The Malthouse is not yet rated by Visit Britain and is offered as an alternative if Greenway Cottage is not available. If you just fancy a night or two away from it all you can stay in our 18th C Malthouse home, also set in the grounds of Lydbrook House. It also has wireless broadband. The Malthouse is an 18th century building now offered for self-catering holiday accommodation or B&B.
The ground floor is where we have our restaurant, The Garden Cafe, and hold music, drama, art or poetry events, plus our regular Tapas nights.
On the first and second floors, the Malthouse accommodation comprises three double bedrooms, one with en suite toilet and bathroom, as well as one small bedroom attached to one of the bigger rooms –suitable for family.
A bedroom in the Malthouse
Large kitchen dining and siting room with plenty of space for extra guests if you are self-catering, shown here.
Like Greenway Cottage, the Malthouse is set in the grounds of Lydbrook House and has a secure walled garden, acres of woodland walks and private parking. Summer rates are the same as for the cottage. B&B £40.00 per person per night (January and February £35.00 per night.) Please note: In winter, big old buildings do not stay as warm as small modern centrally heated houses. We do have gas central heating and a log burning stove but still need to resort to the hot water bottle and jumpers when it is minus degrees outside! Please be aware of that. In winter the Garden Cafe is only open on special occasions but guests can order food providing enough notice is given
First class food is our speciality. All local organic meats and dairy products. We bake our own bread and in the season grow our own vegetables. Outside residents have access to the walled pond garden.
